Love + a love for Jeni’s Icecream means for a tasty engagement shoot on a fall day in Columbus Ohio!

He had to know it was coming. She kept holding the cone so close to his face.

Anna, YOU are beautiful.

What’s not shown here is a lovely shot of Eric mooning the camera. He’s crazy and doesn’t hold back… and I love it. Anna handles it’s beautifully. Usually a roll of the eyes. Half smile. Or FULL on laugh. Makes me that much more excited to shoot their wedding this summer:)
Sometimes…and i mean SOMETIMES…i’m not working on edits and shoots for all of you lovely friends:) From time-to-time, I’ll do little projects with or without Matt. Improvements to the halfway house (which is the apartment we currently call home until our next 4 moves within the next 12 months), painting, construction, little side jobs for friends, etc.
I thought I’d share this one. My good friend from college, Robyn, is marrying Rob (i know…giggle…it’s cute) in May and they have solicited the help of willing friends. I was ready and willing – and my task: programs! Nice and easy, I thought. I have immense appreciation for the work that my friends Marit and Carrie do. Let me tell you.
So back to the struggle. Here was my process:
1 – fonts. Sure, i’ll pick one of the 144 million fonts in existence. Easy, right? No. 500 hours later, I had to just pick from the 22,000 i narrowed it down to.
2 – colors. A little easier since I knew Robyn’s colors. But then it requires restraint to not throw in bright vibrant colors like turquoise and cherry red and Lime green. I sat on my hands until the urge has passed and then continued.
3 – art. She wanted wildflowers. And so that began the quest for PRETTY wildflowers. Carrie came to the rescue. (thanks a million carrie).
4 – size. Is there ever a right size for programs? I’m going to guess there is a recommended size. I didn’t know that size.
I did this for my good friend because I love her and I was so excited to help! And, I survived. You likey? I actually think it turned out cute!
These two are kicking off my wild wedding schedule beginning May 1. Excited to share with you.

In celebration, here is a favorite set from the commercial shoot I did for Lottie Da in October at the Columbus Zoo. The robots holding hands and all the red on the coaster made it V-Day worthy:) The full session hasn’t been revealed yet – waiting until the Lottie Da site is live so you can see the images in their fun web world.

In other news!
We’re halfway through February and the baby photoshoot and wardrobe giveaway continues through the 28th! Take a second (it literally takes seconds) to enter your name then tell your friends! More info here:

I’ve been dying to share this one with you! So let’s just get right to it. OH! and feel free to leave some love for Hayley in the comments. She’s probably heard enough sad stuff since her hubby was deployed last month. I think happy “cute kids” and “wish I had your hair” kind of comments are more than welcome here!

LOVE all the colors happening here V

Poor little Hudson was pretty sick that day :/ But we managed to get a smile out of him…

(below) These are truly the kinds of portraits I want all of my client to be able to take home. This is who the Lovett’s are. Playful. Happy. W/ curious kids.

I know it’s a bit unbalanced: Miley pics vs. rest of the family. But seriously… this child….

Then there’s Scott and Hayley.

And I’m pretty sure she won some sorta “Hot mom 2009″ award. Ok not really, but she should. Someone submit her photo.

Here is what I loved most about this session: Hayley’s attention to the details. She took everything I said about color and clothing and coordinating but not matching and showed up in something brilliant. I was thrilled to see all the colors. And they looked beautiful with the time of day and at-home setting.
The Book Loft is THE place for lovers
Enjoy your little preview, Leanna and Ryan! More coming…

EDIT: SORRY – I’VE BEEN TOLD IT’S TAKING FOREVER TO LOAD. HOPEFULLY THIS SIZE HELPS:)
I LOVED shooting this wedding as much as I think you’ll enjoy seeing it come together! This high-energy and heart-felt outdoor backyard wedding this fall still stands out in my mind as the most unique wedding I have had the privilege to be apart of …as a guest or photographer. I want to break this into two posts – you’ll definitely be seeing more from Carmen’s big day:)
These details so appropriately set up the beautiful wedding.
And can we PLEASE talk about that dress??? Radiant. Vibrant. Flow-y and completely gorgeous. When Carmen walked out of her house with those boots (a few photos up) and this gown, I’m pretty sure I squealed…loudly. You know how much I love bright and bold colors. I could not have picked something more perfect myself!!!

These crazy cats were FREEZING by the time we were done. That’s what happens when you plaster your soon-to-be with hand-fulls of snow
On the less crazy side, here were a couple pics that stopped me today. Beth’s laugh had me smiling behind the camera. It’s contagious!
Oh…and I tried something new with the processing. You like?

Still in Chicago enjoying this yucky weather : / Since I’m not out walkin the town in the rain…all I could think about was going through all the photos! Here are a couple pics of the gorgeous couple I spent the evening with for their engagement session!
