May 14, 2010It has been a month….A MONTH since you last heard from me on here. I’m sorry. Really, I am. I mean to keep up – keep you posted on happenings and photoshoots. And I know you understand why I’ve been quiet but I still feel bad that I haven’t been sharing the progress with you. So here are some FAVORITE photo moments over the last 15-some days…
April kicked off with a chunk of commercial work. A loud and giggly, high-pitched-voice-chattery (that voice you use when you’re around kids and puppies), binkie dropping, cuddly, cheek-pinching, spit-up clean-up happening, ULTRA ADORABLE 4-day photoshoot with 37 kiddos…all under the age of 2. A blast. More details on that to come! Kara, our studio stylist, worked so so SO hard outfitting every child and pinning as they were running away from her. It was a fun challenge:)
Up next: a newborn-ish shoot:) Baby ABE! Love. this. face.
Then, came a photoshoot in late April filled with goodies. Cupcakes. I wanted all of them.
Then wedding season hit.
May 1 – Robyn and Rob’s simple family-filled hometown wedding. Fave pic of him carrying her across the cobblestone driveway.
May 8 – Maribeth and Taylor’s loud, fun, energetic (and HUGE) Dayton wedding! Record was set for me – 22 in the wedding party.
TO FINISH OUT MAY WEDDINGS: May 22 in Cincinnati for Mary Ann and Scott’s wedding, then headed down to Charleston SC 4 days later for Kurt and Nina’s seaside destination wedding!
Amidst all of this excitement, renovations are still being made to the studio. A designer has joined the team to help us create a fun and inspiring space to meet with all of you! We also have learned that Leanna’s (hair stylist) mom can do ANYTHING> I mean anything you ask her if she can do, the answer is always yes. It’s amazing. You’ll meet her at grand opening too:)

I’ve had many calls and emails about booking fall sessions. Many have booked already but I’m assuming (based on the wild number of sessions from last fall) that MAAAANY of you haven’t thought that far ahead yet : ) Well, it’s not too early to plan it. I promise! Sunday thru Friday slots are still open, with shoot times within 2 hrs of sunrise or sunset. I’ll work on a date and time with you when as you schedule, as well as plan our follow-up call to discuss wardrobe (very important!) and location. I’m excited to see all of you again and meet some of the new little ones that have joined your family!!!
Now, on to the photos! Yet another fun session with adorable kids. I’m a lucky lady ; ) This shoot was in October near Galloway, Ohio.

Be Inspired {Moments}
February 26, 2010We’re not ready for kids. We talk about it all the time and laugh about the fact that there really never is a “good time” for kids. But we know, someday, we’ll add tiny humans to our little hubby/wife/2 maltese family:) But until then, I will live in these moments I get to experience behind the lens. The moments I see in other families in the park, outside their home, in the living room, on little facebook videos (thanks Amanda H and Ali K for always posting!) tug at me and make me smile and say “keep doing that, she’s laughing and it’s just perfect!” at a shoot with a family.
I can tell, and hear all the time there is nothing like the connection between mommy and baby. NOTHING like it. And I LOVE being there to see it myself.
The Morrison Family {Lifestyle Portraits}
February 24, 2010My best description for the Morrison’s early December shoot: Crayola. Feels like a box of markers. Or maybe some spilled paint. And I love it. I just wish we had thrown in a teal bike or something to give it one more color 
Have I made my point yet? When we shoot your session, wear some COLOR!!!! I think it’s been a while since I haven’t found some way to brighten up a shoot. I can’t get enough of it. I promise you’ll be much happier with the photos, too. And if you need a little help, I have a FABULOUS wardrobe stylist. She’ll either pick it out or talk you through it. I mean, she can literally go to your home and outfit your entire family with items you would have never thought to put together. Let me know if you want more info about it.
PS – I’m pretty sure people PAY to get hair as amazing as little Eliana (the precious red-ish head)
I don’t remember WHY Matt was making this face but he’s hilarious so I’m going to assume he just said something ridiculous and thought he made a funny

Baby Opal {Lifestyle Newborn}
February 23, 2010I know I’m getting out of order by posting this recent shoot before some of the Oct/Nov/Dec/Jan sessions I’m still wrapping up, but I really wanted to post this one! I finished edits for the Drake family today and couldn’t get over how adorable little Opal is:) These a a few faves:
The hat was made by a friend of Keri’s. It’s a cupcake!
OH! Loved this. Lucy, partially pictured above, wanted to run her own little photoshoot. Completely adorable. So after i took a few pics, she slid into, had the family squeeze together and she snapped shots on her Nintendo DS (i think that’s what it was?) She was taking forever because she wanted to draw hearts or stars or sparkles or something around their faces…and Keri and Jeff wanted to know if they could stop posing for her:
“are you done Lucy? Lucy? Uh Lucy?”
“Hang on mom, i’m putting sparkles”.
Too cute.
The Drake Family {Lifestyle Portraits}
February 23, 2010This fall, I was so excited to get a call from the Drake family! I used to work with Keri at sbc advertising in Columbus. She was about two months-ish away from delivering little Opal (in the next post after this one) and wanted to get some fun family shots. So we set up a lifestyle session at the Park of Roses in Clintonville. The light was beautiful and Keri and Lucy rocked out some amazing colors. I was so SO excited when they showed up decked out in all their brightness.

Charlotte {Lifestyle Baby}
February 22, 2010This session, from this fall, is a great example of a lifestyle shoot at it’s best. Charlotte, in her own home, at the time of day when the light in the playroom was the best, very comfortable with her own toys and space. When the kids are happy, they show it. Playing with everything they own, giggling, inviting parents to join it, getting creative. It was so fun and so special for her parents to have this adorable time in her life documents. I shot most of the session on my 50 1.2, but swapped in the 24-70 2.8 several times. The 24-70 seems to be a little less intrusive and depending on how the kids handle you being nearby, that can contribute to your lens selection.
