What’s not shown here is a lovely shot of Eric mooning the camera. He’s crazy and doesn’t hold back… and I love it. Anna handles it’s beautifully. Usually a roll of the eyes. Half smile. Or FULL on laugh. Makes me that much more excited to shoot their wedding this summer:)

LOVIN the fans!

Just for fun

February 14, 2010

Sometimes…and i mean SOMETIMES…i’m not working on edits and shoots for all of you lovely friends:) From time-to-time, I’ll do little projects with or without Matt. Improvements to the halfway house (which is the apartment we currently call home until our next 4 moves within the next 12 months), painting, construction, little side jobs for friends, etc.

I thought I’d share this one. My good friend from college, Robyn, is marrying Rob (i know…giggle…it’s cute) in May and they have solicited the help of willing friends. I was ready and willing – and my task: programs! Nice and easy, I thought. I have immense appreciation for the work that my friends Marit and Carrie do. Let me tell you.

So back to the struggle. Here was my process:

1 – fonts. Sure, i’ll pick one of the 144 million fonts in existence. Easy, right? No. 500 hours later, I had to just pick from the 22,000 i narrowed it down to.

2 – colors. A little easier since I knew Robyn’s colors. But then it requires restraint to not throw in bright vibrant colors like turquoise and cherry red and Lime green. I sat on my hands until the urge has passed and then continued.

3 – art. She wanted wildflowers. And so that began the quest for PRETTY wildflowers. Carrie came to the rescue. (thanks a million carrie).

4 – size. Is there ever a right size for programs? I’m going to guess there is a recommended size. I didn’t know that size.

I did this for my good friend because I love her and I was so excited to help! And, I survived. You likey? I actually think it turned out cute!

However, my advice to the world: let the pros handle it ;)

These two are kicking off my wild wedding schedule beginning May 1. Excited to share with you.

I’ve been dying to share this one with you! So let’s just get right to it. OH! and feel free to leave some love for Hayley in the comments. She’s probably heard enough sad stuff since her hubby was deployed last month. I think happy “cute kids” and “wish I had your hair” kind of comments are more than welcome here! ;)

I know it’s a bit unbalanced: Miley pics vs. rest of the family. But seriously… this child….

Then there’s Scott and Hayley.

And I’m pretty sure she won some sorta “Hot mom 2009″ award. Ok not really, but she should. Someone submit her photo.

Here is what I loved most about this session: Hayley’s attention to the details. She took everything I said about color and clothing and coordinating but not matching and showed up in something brilliant. I was thrilled to see all the colors. And they looked beautiful with the time of day and at-home setting.

EDIT:  SORRY – I’VE BEEN TOLD IT’S TAKING FOREVER TO LOAD. HOPEFULLY THIS SIZE HELPS:)

I LOVED shooting this wedding as much as I think you’ll enjoy seeing it come together! This high-energy and heart-felt outdoor backyard wedding this fall still stands out in my mind as the most unique wedding I have had the privilege to be apart of …as a guest or photographer. I want to break this into two posts – you’ll definitely be seeing more from Carmen’s big day:)

These details so appropriately set up the beautiful wedding.

And can we PLEASE talk about that dress???  Radiant. Vibrant. Flow-y and completely gorgeous. When Carmen walked out of her house with those boots (a few photos up) and this gown, I’m pretty sure I squealed…loudly. You know how much I love bright and bold colors. I could not have picked something more perfect myself!!!

Cincinnati Vow Renewal

September 8, 2009

This is the best story:

After a rough couple years of marriage, Paula and Wesley followed through and worked hard at their life-long commitment to each other.  Their marriage survived the trenches.  They were proud and wanted to surprise their friends and family with a renewal of their wedding vows (but mostly just wanted to have them there for such an event).  They used Paula’s 60th birthday as the cover. Somehow, they slipped and told their daughter Danielle, who then called me and asked if I would capture the birthday party and surprise ceremony at their home in Cincy.  I was thrilled.  What a beautiful story. And even better:  me shooting the event was a gift from Danielle to her parents.  They had no idea

I showed up at Paula and Wesley’s home in Cincinnati and was immediately pulled aside by Danielle as she broke the news to her mom on who I was and why I was there.  Sheer shock and thanks.  I loved Paula’s reaction.  She was so happy:)  We still had to be hush hush because none of the guests knew there was a ceremony.  Everyone ate.  Chatted.  Hugged.  Laughed.  And then it happened. The pastor (there as a friend and guest) got everyone’s attention and invited Paula and Wesley to stand in front of him.  No one had any idea what was going on.  The pastor continued with an absolutely beautiful ceremony with the most heart-felt vows by Paula and Wesley.  So emotional.  Especially for those that really understood how hard they had to work to be standing there together recommitting their marriage to each other and God.  Incredible, and I couldn’t have felt more proud to be a part of something so meaningful.

Here’s a glimpse of the day…

A few moments with the “bride & groom”… (some of the many pics)

These photos are pretty raw but I had to share.  Danielle’s friends were all there to support and stole Paula away for some gal time.  Dana read a really sweet letter to her.

There are so many more wonderful moments from this event.  Everyone of course sang happy birthday, ate cake and ice cream and exchanged cards and gifts.  It was a beautiful day:)

Danielle – thank you from the bottom of my heart for thinking of me for such an incredible event.  What a beautiful thing to document and I’m just glad I could be the one to do that for you:)

Meet Lauryn Byrdy

September 4, 2009

Bah. Pictures of me.  Never wanted them.  But at some point, something like a promo comes along and your lovely friend says they REALLY need your headshot.  So, alas.  My “headshot”.  I.LOVE.THESE.  No surprise because my super fantastic and ultra talented photographer was Amy  w/ C Studios.

And since I really needed something on my About Me page…….

I couldn’t pick just one yet.  It’ll happen.  I’ll simplify :)

Oh and the blue, yellow, orange and slate…totally planned…the brand palatte! Everything but the pink.
